Santa Monica, California: Why You'll Love It Here

Welcome to Santa Monica, California, one of the most alluring cities in all of the United States!

NMS Properties is proud to own multiple residential communities in the popular, picturesque beachside city. They include NMS 1548, 1422 on 6th and many other properties in the downtown district; Olympic Studios and Olympic Studio Lofts in the Mid-City neighborhood; NMS Studios, located near the easternmost edge of Santa Monica; and more.

While fewer than 100,000 residents call the resort city home, new-technology professionals, tourists and millions more flock to the city every year, so they can bathe in the sun, shop at high-end boutiques and eat at top-rated restaurants. Visitors also head to Santa Monica to enjoy some of the top recreation spots in the region. The beach city is one of the top destinations for bicycling, yoga, bodybuilding and other types of fitness, and is also the finishing point for the LA Marathon.

The Santa Monica Civic Center and Barker Hangar host expos and other events on a regular basis, while elaborate movie promotions are often staged at the recently renovated Santa Monica Place. During the holiday season, the famous Third Street Promenade is turned into a winter wonderland, with an outdoor ice-skating rink — that's right, in sunny Southern California — set up at the nearby intersection of Fourth and Arizona.

In the summertime, residents and tourists alike flock to the Santa Monica Pier and the beach, where they can get a tan, take a swim or participate in recreational activities along the 3.5 miles of oceanfront. The outdoor Twilight Concert Series attracts throngs to the pier on Thursday nights, free movie screenings (also held outdoors) take place on the promenade as part of the Cinema on the Street series on Friday evenings, and the SummerTASTE Wine Tasting Series gives adults a chance to usher in the fall in style.

Shoppers who need a break from the beach can stroll around high-end Montana Avenue, which is arguably the premier shopping destination in the whole city. They can also check out a classic movie at the Aero Theatre, also located on Santa Monica; learn about celestial bodies at the John Drescher Planetarium at Santa Monica College; or window-shop along Wilshire Boulevard.

Santa Monica also has its own police department, city hall, bus lines, farmers markets, airportaquarium, amusement parkmagic store, Fourth of July parade and four libraries, with a fifth under construction. The city also has more than 50 schools, more than 20 parks, dozens of religious institutions, handfuls of nonprofit organizations and two hospitals (UCLA Medical Center and St. John's Health Center).

Santa Monica, which is part of Los Angeles County, is the home of celebrities ranging from Sean Penn to Charlie Sheen to Tobey Maguire. It is also a preferred living choice for executives and other wealthy residents.
